El legendario surfista y actor Tamayo Perry, fue encontrado muerto ayer domingo 23 de junio del 2024 en la playa de Malaekahana, en la costa norte de Oahu, Hawái (EE.UU.), después de ser atacado por un tiburón, informa Fox Sports.
Residentes de la zona vieron el cuerpo del deportista, de 49 años, y llamaron a los socorristas, que lo llevaron hasta la orilla en una moto acuática, donde paramédicos declararon la defunción.
Reportan que, como consecuencia del ataque, perdió un brazo y una pierna.
Perry trabajaba como socorrista de Seguridad Oceánica e instructor de surf en la ciudad de Honolulú, ubicada a 50 kilómetros del lugar en el que fueron hallados sus restos.
También es conocido por participar en películas, como ‘Blue Crush’, ‘Perdidos’, ‘Piratas del Caribe: En mareas extrañas’ y ‘Los ángeles de Charlie: Al límite’. Además, ganó varios campeonatos de surf, entre ellos el Pipe Masters Trials en 1999.
“Tamayo Perry era un socorrista querido por todos, muy conocido en la Costa Norte, un surfista profesional conocido en todo el mundo“, afirmó el Kurt Lager, jefe interino de Seguridad Oceánica, en Honolulú.
Asimismo, el alcalde de la localidad, Rick Blangiardi, calificó la muerte de Perry de “trágica pérdida” y describió al socorrista como “un hombre de agua legendario“.
