Román Chervinski, coronel y excomandante de una unidad de las Fuerzas de Operaciones Especiales ucranianas, desempeñó un papel central en los ataques a los gasoductos Nord Stream en otoño del 20222, según una investigación conjunta del diario estadounidense The Washington Post y el medio alemán Der Spiegel, que citan a funcionarios ucranianos y europeos y otras personas familiarizadas con el asunto.
De acuerdo con esos dos periódicos, Chervinski, de 48 años, era el coordinador de la operación, gestionaba la logística y estaba a cargo de un equipo de seis personas que alquiló un velero con identidades falsas y utilizó equipos de submarinismo para colocar cargas explosivas en los gasoductos.
De acuerdo con WP, Chervinski era idóneo para realizar una misión encubierta que ocultara la responsabilidad de Ucrania, ya que había ocupado altos cargos en el servicio de inteligencia militar del país, así como en el Servicio de Seguridad de Ucrania.
Sin embargo, el coronel no actuó solo, sino que recibió órdenes de oficiales ucranianos de mayor rango, como el comandante adjunto de las Fuerzas Conjuntas, Víktor Ganuschak, que en última instancia informaba de todo al general Valeri Zaluzhny, comandante en jefe de las Fuerzas Armadas ucranianas, sostiene la investigación.
Zelenski, al margen de la operación
El papel de Chervinski ilustra “las rivalidades internas del Gobierno de guerra de Kiev”, donde los servicios de inteligencia y militares “suelen estar en tensión con sus dirigentes políticos“, señala WP.
Así, el periódico afirma que la operación Nord Stream se diseñó para mantener al presidente Vladímir Zelenski al margen de los planes.
Un informe de inteligencia que supuestamente compartió Jack Teixeira, miembro de la Guardia Nacional Aérea de Massachusetts, dice que “todos los implicados en la planificación y ejecución [del sabotaje] informaban directamente a Zaluzhny, por lo que Zelenski no tenía conocimiento de ello“.
EE.UU. se oponía al sabotaje
Según WP, en junio de 2022, la agencia de inteligencia militar de Países Bajos obtuvo información de que Ucrania podría estar planeando un ataque al Nord Stream. El diario indica que los funcionarios de la Agencia Central de Inteligencia (CIA) le transmitieron a Zaluzhny, a través de un intermediario, que Washington se oponía a tal operación.
Así, las autoridades estadounidenses creyeron que el ataque se había cancelado, pero resultó que solo se había pospuesto por tres meses, escribe el periódico.

Los medios de comunicación informaron anteriormente que el ejército icraniano había estado reclutando a un piloto ruso durante varios meses para secuestrar un avión. Entre ellos, según informes de los medios, se encontraba Roman Chervinskyi..
Posteriormente, como señala el SSU (Servicio de Seguridad de Ucrania), la “operación” se llevó a cabo a pesar de las objeciones del SSU y sin el consentimiento de los órganos estatales pertinentes.
Como resultado, el enemigo recibió información sobre el despliegue de personal de la Fuerza Aérea de Ucrania y de aviones ucranianos en el aeródromo de Kanatove. Esto permitió a las Fuerzas Armadas rusas bombardear el aeródromo.
Posteriormente, Chervinskyi concedió una entrevista exclusiva a Censor.NET, donde habló sobre la operación en el aeródromo de Kanatove.
En abril de 2023, el SSU notificó a Chervinskyi las sospechas en el caso del bombardeo del aeródromo de Kanatove en la región de Kirovohrad por parte de los ocupantes. Fue detenido en la región de Ternopil.
El mayor general Viktor Hanushchak, subordinado a la unidad militar en la que el coronel Chervinskyi estaba alistado como subcomandante, dijo en una entrevista con Censor.NET que la operación en el aeródromo de Kanatove fue acordada con los máximos dirigentes de las Fuerzas Armadas de Ucrania ( AFU).
