Al menos siete personas han muerto y varias resultaron heridas, entre ellas dos agentes, en una megaoperación desplegada hoy martes 27 de febrero del 2024 por la Policía de Brasil en varias favelas de Río de Janeiro, dominadas por el Comando Vermelho, uno de los mayores grupos criminales del país.
La Policía Militar detalló que en la comunidad de Sao Joao de Meriti, cuatro sospechosos se enfrentaron con los agentes cuando intentaban huir en un automóvil robado y, a pesar de ser trasladados al hospital, no resistieron a sus heridas y murieron.
Además, en la favela de Flexal, la Policía informó que otros tres sospechosos fueron abatidos en un enfrentamiento.
“Estamos decididos a tomar medidas contra el crimen organizado y arrestar a sus miembros, con el objetivo de garantizar la seguridad no solo de las regiones del norte y del oeste, sino también de la zona metropolitana y el interior del estado”, comunicó la Policía Militar.
Según la prensa, las autoridades desplegaron controles de entrada y salida en las comunidades para impedir la fuga de los sospechosos.
Nada más comenzar el operativo, los narcotraficantes incendiaron barricadas para intentar contener el avance de los agentes.
Uno de los objetivos de la operación es el arresto de Edgar Alves de Andrade, conocido como ‘Doca‘, uno de los jefes de la banda y responsable de las disputas por el territorio en la zona oeste de la capital.
