Autoridades colombianas confirmaron ayer jueves 15 de febrero del 2024 que el menor de dos años Dilan Santiago Castro, cuyo cuerpo fue hallado sin vida el pasado 10 de febrero del 2024 en una finca al sur de Bogotá, falleció a consecuencia de una encefalopatía hipóxica (ahogamiento), razón por la cual el caso está siendo investigado como un homicidio.
“El Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal dictaminó que esta muerte fue violenta. Por lo tanto, se investigará como un homicidio junto al mecanismo de muerte.
El peritaje de Medicina Legal manifiesta que es a causa de una encefalopatía hipóxica”, dijo a los medios la directora de Fiscalías de Bogotá, Leonor Merchán.
De acuerdo con la reseña de W Radio sobre el caso, el infante desapareció de su casa el martes 6 de febrero del 2024 mientras su madre hacía labores domésticas en la cocina y poco después comenzó a ser buscado por equipos especializados que recorrieron los alrededores de la vivienda por aire y tierra.

De acuerdo con la funcionaria, el Ministerio Público recolectó imágenes con drones que han permitido hacer hipótesis que, tras el crimen, los perpetradores trasladaron el cuerpo al paraje donde finalmente fue localizado: “Presuntamente ese no es el lugar donde el menor falleció, sino que sería una escena secundaria”, advirtió.
“Estamos manejando dos lugares, esto debido a que la finca en la que se encuentra tanto la residencia donde vivía el menor como el lugar donde hallaron el cuerpo quedan a una distancia lineal a pie de 30 minutos, por un terreno que no es parejo, lo que hace difícil que el menor hubiera llegado hasta allí por sus medios”, detalló, según declaraciones recogidas por El Espectador.
Del mismo modo, Merchán comentó que a los peritos les llamó la atención la escasa vestimenta de la víctima, inconsistente con el clima frío de la zona.
“Llama la atención bastante el vestir en el que se encontraba este menor, teniendo en cuenta que es pues un sitio muy frío y él apenas se encontraba con una camisa y su overol”, apuntó.

En entrevista con BluRadio referida por Caracol, Merchán precisó que pese al dictamen de Medicina Legal, las autoridades todavía no tienen claro el panorama y manejan varias hipótesis, al tiempo que ninguna persona ha sido procesada o descartada por el crimen.
“Por eso, lo investigamos como homicidio y frente a los responsables de este hecho no hemos descartado a ninguna persona. Es de aclarar también que no se ha vinculado penalmente por la muerte del menor a ninguna persona”, puntualizó.
Sus declaraciones se produjeron pocas horas antes de la liberación de Marlon Castro, padre de Dilan Santiago, quien fue privado de libertad el pasado martes 14 de febrero del 2024 por cargos de violencia intrafamiliar.
El juez a cargo de su causa determinó que el hombre no representa un peligro para la sociedad.
